February 2013 (forecast): Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Research Initiative – Funding will support innovative research that challenges and offers fresh perspectives on a range of topics related to the science of management accounting. There is no specific topic for this initiative, although applicants may wish to align their project to one of the following themes: corporate social responsibility; •CFO priorities; •the future of management accounting; •valuing talent – cost of losing and retaining talent; •tomorrow’s finance talent and competencies; •strategy, risk and opportunity management; •resilient business models; •managing mega data; •cloud computing, IT and its impact on the profession.
Research findings should be of value to both business and academic communities globally. Case studies may be drawn from both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Projects may last for up to 18 months. Grants are typically worth between £5,000 and £40,000.
16 April 2013 (forecast): Centre for Economic Policy Research, Major Research Grants – These grants will support research that aims to better understand what determines the strength of market forces driving efficiency in low-income countries. Research may relate to firms of all sizes and should produce results that will be useful for policymaking. Proposals should address the following themes: modelling market frictions in LICs using newly available data; understanding how constraints interact using micro-founded macro models; the dynamics of SMEs – informality and entrepreneurship; the role of export-oriented industries in driving growth.
Proposals that address cross-cutting issues such as fragile and conflict-affected states, gender, and climate, environment and social compliance are encouraged.
15 June 2013 (forecast): Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Research and Knowledge Exchange Fund Grants These grants aim to support new research activities from academics, third sector organisations, consultants and practitioners with the ambition of drawing together and generating an entrepreneurial community of practice to facilitate knowledge exchange and transfer. Capacity building through collaborations between experienced and early career researchers and applications presented as pilot studies are encouraged.
