Communicating with the media workshop
As a researcher, you are likely at some point in your career to give a live radio or television interview, or be asked to contribute to a pre-recorded telephone discussion, or news report. Would you like to develop confidence in dealing with the media, know how best to prepare and approach a potential media interview situation?
Holly Smith, from the University’s Communication, PR and Public Affairs Department, is holding a lunchtime workshop (with a free lunch!) on Communicating with the Media on Monday, 27 January from 12:00 to 14:00 in the T-Pod, Rockingham Library.
The workshop offers a whistle-stop primer for researchers in dealing with all aspects of the media, whether it be a television interview, radio broadcast or newspaper report. Holly will cover preparation, confidence and presentation, writing and speaking in plain English and she will provide practical examples of good media presentations to stimulate discussion.
This workshop is open to UN research staff and postgraduate research students. For more information and to book see http://commwmediajan14.eventbrite.co.uk/
