The Centre for Contemporary Narrative and Cultural Theory at the University of Northampton School of The Arts is very pleased to announce that Professor Stef Craps (The University of Ghent) will be giving the keynote lecture for the ‘Decolonizing Trauma Studies’ symposium at Avenue Campus (Room MY120) on 15 May 2015.

Organised by Dr Sonya Andermahr and I, the symposium will feature papers by scholars from UCL, Edinburgh, Zaragoza, King Saud and Jendouba.  It will also include a round-table discussion which will feature contributions by Professor Craps, Professor Bryan Cheyette (The University of Reading) and Professor Janet Wilson (The University of Northampton).  The symposium will be accompanied by an exhibition of the photography of Goldsmiths trained artist, Sayed Hasan in Maidwell atrium. My Granddad’s Car – Diptych (Sayed Hasan, 2012)

The symposium will mark the culmination of a busy period of activity for the Trauma working group.  Sonya and I will be giving public talks in support of artist Pam Foley’s exhibition, ‘Routes of Sorrow’  at Northampton’s NN Gallery in April (click here for the programme of events) and we will also be appearing at the ‘Memory Frictions’ conference at the University of Zaragoza (6-8 May 2015).
