The Graduate School’s New Coaching Programme for PGRs

A student using a laptopThe Graduate School are offering five Postgraduate Research Students the opportunity to have a course of professional coaching sessions to support and help them progress in their doctoral studies. If you are a UoN Postgraduate Researcher and are interested in applying for these sessions, you have until 8th December to apply. Read on if you are interested….

To apply for the coaching sessions you first need the support of your supervisory team. Then you will need to fill in the application form, stating in 100 words why you feel you need coaching. Please be specific about your needs and read the guidelines carefully, and the document “Are you ready to be coached“. A panel will choose five successful students to go forward for the coaching opportunity.

The coaching will consist of six 45 minute sessions, via Skype, facilitated by experienced coach, Dr Kate Mahoney. Kate is an independent consultant with specialist experience in coaching and supporting researchers – you can read more about her in the linked document below. During the confidential coaching sessions you will be positively challenged and encouraged to work on your specific target, agree actions and identify unhelpful thought patterns. This is a golden opportunity for you to maximize your personal potential, fulfil goals and develop your self-awareness.
