Winners of the 2014-15 Images of Research competition
The Graduate School’s Images of Research competition 2014-15 offered researchers a chance to illustrate or represent their research with a unique image, along with a descriptive abstract of c.150 words. We held two competitions:
1. Professional image maker and PhD student, John Sunderland, was invited to choose his top three.
2. Visitors to the exhibition, and online poll on the Research Support Hub, voted for their favourite three images. Read the rest of this entry
Highlights from the Graduate School Poster Competition 2015
The Graduate School held their 10th Annual Poster Competition for doctoral research students on Weds 13th May in Newton Hall on Avenue Campus. The event offered research students the opportunity to showcase their work, practice their presentation skills, discussing their research with a non-specialist audience, and a chance to win a prize of £100 or £75. Seven judges, a mix of University staff and Board of Governors, plus an external judge from the Open University, chose one first and three second prizes. Read the rest of this entry
PGR Student Poster Competition 2015: Last call for entry forms!
The Graduate School are holding their 10th Annual Poster Competition on Wednesday 13th May 2015, open to all doctoral students. We are offering a first prize of £100, and two second prizes of £75 – it’s an excellent opportunity for you to illustrate and discuss your research. The competition will be held in Newton hall at Avenue Campus so you must be free to present your poster between noon and 3pm on the 13th.
If you are interested you have until Tuesday 21st April 2015 to return the Entry Form, which secures your place in the competition. Please note that you have until the morning of the 12th May to produce and print your final poster, as you will be required to hang it at the venue on the 12th May 3-5pm. The competition has its own Rules of Entry, to which students must adhere in order to be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Exciting Scholarship News for Masters Students at 78 Derngate Event!
On Wednesday 18th March, English staff, current MA and PhD students and prospective MA students gathered for a special event at 78 Derngate, Northampton. Courtesy of the School of The Arts, staff and students were treated to a tour of the beautiful restored Modernist interior of 78 Derngate, to see the gorgeous designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Tours of the house were followed by refreshments and canapes in the 78 Derngate atrium, where students were treated to a special announcement by Professor Richard Canning and Dr Sonya Andermahr.

If so, you may be interested to know that the Graduate School are holding their 10th Annual Poster Competition on Wednesday 13th May 2015, so why not take part? 2015 ABTA Doctoral Researcher Awards
ABTA (the Association of British Turkish Academics) announces its 2015 Doctoral Researcher Awards to promote and reward academic and scientific excellence among researchers pursuing doctoral degrees in the UK. The competition is open to all research students regardless of their nationality and there are prizes from £200 up to £400. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 30th March.
