Santander Funding Opportunities

SantanderApplications are now open for the Santander Mobility Fund and Santander Staff Research Award.  Santander funding is available to encourage student mobility for a short term project and for staff who require support for a research project.

Both forms need to be submitted to corinna.coleman@northampton.ac.uk by the 30 April 2017.

Reminder – Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) Funding Opportunities Seminar

You are invited to a seminar on funding opportunities on Thursday March 17, between 1–3pm in the Newton Grand Hall.

The seminar will briefly review the advantages for university staff of working with industry, and explore ways to make a start, or deepen your links with businesses. There will be an opportunity to look at the financial support available from government and other sources (including European funding) to support collaborations. It will also review the characteristics of a good collaborative funding bid.

The seminar will be conducted by Prof Carolyn Roberts (Specialist) and Dr Lis Broome (Knowledge Transfer Manager), from the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), which is the engagement arm of Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.  Professor Roberts and Dr Broome will be available for specific advice and follow up on potential projects after the main session.

The KTN is a membership organisation with some 60,000 members spread across a variety of sectors and types of companies and other organisations in the public and voluntary sectors.

Funding opportunity: AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnerships

British Library_logo_100The British Library is currently advertising three Collaborative Doctoral Partnerships, to begin in October 2016.  The call is open to researchers of postdoctoral standing with a contract of employment with a UK HEI.

There are three research topics:

  • The Working Life of Scientists: Exploring the Culture of Scientific Research
  • Digital Publishing and the Reader
  • Hans Sloane’s Books: Evaluating an Enlightenment Library

Santander Staff Research Award

SantanderSantander funding is available for staff that require support for a research project. The project should be aligned to the University or School’s objectives, and have an international theme or connection with one or more of the countries below. The project should also be in collaboration with a current or potential Partner University.

Santander network countries currently include Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, China, Colombia, Germany, Ghana, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Spain, USA, UAE and Uruguay.

There are 5 awards of £1,000 available.

Applications using this form should be submitted by 30 June 2015 to corinna.coleman@northampton.ac.uk

Dr Mike Daniel Research Degree Scholarship – £500

The deadline for applications for the Mike Daniel Research Degree Scholarship is the 15th May 2015. Find out how you can apply.

Dr Mike Daniel was Pro Rector (Academic Quality) from 1993​-2002 and played a major role in guiding the institution towards taught degree awarding powers and university college designation. At his untimely death in 2002 he was preparing the case for full university designation, friends and colleagues raised sufficient funds to create a research degree scholarship to be named after him.
