School of the Arts Scholars to Represent The University of Northampton at University of Zaragoza ‘Acts of Remembrance’ Conference

Funded by a Santander Award Dr Sonya Andermahr and Dr Larissa Allwork will be representing the University of Northampton at the University of Zaragoza conference, ‘Acts of Remembrance in Contemporary Narratives in English: Opening the Past for the Future’.

Puente de Piedra (Zaragoza)The visit in April 2013 will enhance The School of the Arts current links with the University of Zaragoza and add to the profile of the interdisciplinary research cluster in Trauma, Narrative and Performance.  Joining an international line-up from Europe, the USA and Russia, Dr Andermahr will deliver a paper on the representation of trauma in Jeanette Winterson’s, ‘Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?’ and Dr Allwork will reflect on the impact of trauma theory on her practice as a researcher in the histories and memories of the Holocaust, Nazi era crimes and negative pasts.
