BBC News asks “How broad is the research?”

The BBC news site today presents several examples of ‘unusual’ PhD work across the UK, featuring vampires, cows, and erotic shoes (in three separate examples, sadly).

A cow's noseI’m not quite sure if the article is pitched as a celebration of research diversity or a conversation piece on Those Wacky Academics, but the researchers do get to explain their work in their own words and there are many exciting photographs.

It’s a shame the section on companionship among cows doesn’t mention the Northampton angle, but it’s an interesting read nonetheless.
