Workshop: Social Media for Researchers on 14th January
Posted by Simone Apel
Research students – are you sure you’re keeping up to date with the research activity of others in your field? Do you exploit contemporary media to enhance communication and collaboration with fellow researchers? Today, these vitally important activities cannot simply be achieved through traditional means (published articles, books and conferences) but increasingly happen through professional networking tools, such as LinkedIn, ResearchGate and blogs/microblogs.
In the current research environment there is increasing pressure on researchers to demonstrate impact within and beyond academia, and in this session Miggie Pickton and Nick Dimmock will introduce new ways of keeping up to date with the research activity of others and describe some of the tools that may be used to disseminate research to & communicate with a wider audience. In each case the focus will be on their application to research and the research process.
Workshop title: Social media for researchers
Date and time: Tuesday, 14 January 2014 from 17:00 to 19:00
Place: T-Pod, Rockingham Library, Park Campus, University of Northampton
Open to: All Research Students at the University of Northampton
