Abstract
Chinese investment is everywhere from property market to manufacturing industry, and now even further to high education. There are more than 1000 Chinese investments in UK business and industry. Are we prepared for Chinese investments? We explore the question from two aspects: opportunities and challenges. On the perspective of the opportunity, how can we make desired investment to a successful completion? What factors can affect this process in completing Chinese investment successfully? Furthermore, what are post-investment impacts on both – the acquiring and acquired party, respectively? As advisor for several Chinese acquisition investments with first-hand experiences and observation, the presentation takes a case study approach to illustrate our understanding of the questions, and to provide us with stimulating consideration on whether we as academia are ready in embracing Chinese investment in high education.
