Organisation Studies Network (OSN) seminar on 9th June

The next Organisation Studies Network (OSN) seminar will be held at Northampton Business School on 9th June 2015 from 12 noon. The OSN includes the University of East London, Keele University, Staffordshire University and the University of Northampton and the group meets regularly to discuss and debate issues around Organisation Studies. The programme on the 9th June includes papers on Research and Writing, Choosing and Trusting in Health and Medicine, Cultures of Mis-selling in the Financial Services Industry and more. Full details of the programme are attached.

Professor Stef Craps announced as keynote for ‘Decolonizing Trauma Studies’ Symposium
The Centre for Contemporary Narrative and Cultural Theory at the University of Northampton School of The Arts is very pleased to announce that Professor Stef Craps (The University of Ghent) will be giving the keynote lecture for the ‘Decolonizing Trauma Studies’ symposium at Avenue Campus (Room MY120) on 15 May 2015.
English announces major international Brigid Brophy conference for October 2015
The English Division at the University of Northampton School of the Arts is very pleased to announce the full programme for the forthcoming Brigid Brophy conference on 9th and 10th October 2015. In the words of Professor Richard Canning, organizer of the conference, the event will, “celebrate all aspects of Brophy’s literary career, as well as her leading contributions to animal rights, vegetarianism, anti-vivisectionism, humanism, feminist politics and advocacy of the Public Lending Right.” The conference will feature keynote lectures by author of The Northern Clemency and The Emperor Waltz, Professor Philip Hensher (Bath Spa University), Goldsmiths Senior Lecturer in Modern Literature, Dr Carole Ann Sweeney and British writer, psychologist, and animal rights advocate, Dr Richard Ryder. Call for papers: School of Education conference deadline end of March
The closing date for the submission of abstracts is fast approaching for the School of Education’s 6th Annual Research Student Conference. PhD and Masters students are invited to submit an abstract by 31st March 2015. The conference will be held in the Sulgrave Building, School of Education, Park Campus, on Friday 26th June and Saturday 27th June 2015. First call for papers (first call closes 31st March)
We invite submissions for a 3 day conference exploring violence, to be held at the University of Northampton, 24-26 June 2015.
Violence is part of the daily lived experience of many people round the world. As a tool of domination and control, it impacts negatively on people’s health, mental health, interpersonal relationships, harms communities and produces a range of sociopolitical effects. This three day conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary and multi-professional context to consider the experience and impact of violence on children, families, individuals and society. We will also consider interventions and responses to violence at individual, interpersonal, community, political and social levels.
Academy scholarship competition for full time research students
The Institute of Ideas Academy is back – a residential weekend retreat which is unashamedly intellectual. From Friday 17th July to Monday 20th July, in the countryside of Bedfordshire, you get the chance to discuss The Public Throughout History, from the Greek and Roman Republics to the more complex, mobile, global publics of the present day.
For the fourth year, The Institute of Ideas will be running the Academy Scholarship Programme for full time students of ANY academic discipline. Midlands Health Psychology Network Conference: Registration now open
Registration is now open for the Midlands Health Psychology Network Conference, which will be held at the University of Derby on Thursday 19th February.
The conference this year is entitled ““Healthy Mind and Body – Understanding, Supporting and Improving” and features key note speakers Professor Sarah Grogan from Manchester Metropolitan University and Dr. Neil Coulson from the University of Nottingham. Delegate fees are low (from £35 to £80, depending on status) and all students, academics, researchers and practitioners are welcome.
