This year’s Academy will take place on Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 July 2017, Wyboston Lakes Executive Centre, Bedfordshire and it will look at the rise and fall of the self. The first day will cover the historic formation of the self, its role as a motor to historical development, and its classical formulation in political theory, economics, philosophy and law. The Battle of Ideas is a weekend of high-level, thought provoking public debate, organised annually by The Institute of Ideas. This year it takes place on 22nd and 23rd October at the Barbican in London.
This, the 12th Battle of Ideas festival, provides a forum for free thinking, debate and discussion, featuring over 80 sessions and hundreds of insightful and thought provoking speakers from across the globe, representing a wide range of disciplines and viewpoints.

The Institute of Ideas Academy is back – a residential weekend retreat which is unashamedly intellectual.
