Funding your doctoral studies – The Alternative Guide to Funding
Are you a postgraduate student (PhD, Professional Doctorate, MPhil or Masters student) at the University of Northampton who is self-funded? Would you like a chance to win funding for fees, maintenance, travel, conference attendance and other research expenses? If so, you might be interested in the next few paragraphs!
The Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding Online is all about alternative sources of funding – charities, foundations and trusts – which can
make awards (fees, maintenance, research costs) to any PG student
regardless of subject, or nationality. The Alternative Guide Online contains a huge database of funding opportunities, comprehensive guidance, and numerous tools to help you prepare a winning grant application. The Graduate School has a subscription to The Alternative Guide to Funding, and you can find out more here. Dr Mike Daniel Scholarship for Postgraduate Researchers
The application form for the Dr Mike Daniel Scholarship is now available with a 31 May deadline. Open to all current postgraduate researchers, and those who enrol in March.

Research and Innovation Funding Support Office Drop-in Session
The Research & Innovation Funding Support Office are hosting their first Drop-in Session (formerly known as Coffee Mornings) on Wednesday, 31st October. Join us on the comfy sofas outside the Research and Enterprise office on the Ground Floor of the Senate Building on Waterside between 8am-10am. You’ll have a chance to meet with the team and find out more about the funding opportunities and support we can provide. No need to book, just turn up. Warm refreshments are available from the Café on the same floor.
Don’t worry if you are unable to make this one, these sessions will be run on a monthly basis at various locations on Waterside Campus.

Santander Staff Research Award
Santander funding is available for staff that require support for a research project. The project should be aligned to the University or Faculty’s objectives, and have an international theme or connection with one or more of the countries listed on the application form. The project should also be in collaboration with a current or potential Partner University.
There are 5 awards of £1,000 available.
