PGR Student Poster Competition 2017: Call for posters from research students

PostergenericThe Graduate School would like to invite research students to submit an application to present a poster at their 12th Annual Poster Competition on Wednesday 17th May 2017, 11am to 2pm, in the Dialog Cafe, ground floor of Rockingham Library, Park Campus. We are offering a first prize of £100, and two second prizes of £75 for the top three posters.

The poster competition is a development opportunity for doctoral research students, who present their research on an A1 or A0 poster, that explains their research to a mixed audience of non-subject specialists. Students will stand by their posters and present it to the judges (5 mins verbal presentation by the student, 5 mins judges questions) and visitors to the competition. Judges will be picked from academic and non-academic staff, plus external visiting judges and posters will be scored on design, accessibility of content, verbal presentation and researcher engagement.

If you are a research student at UoN and are interested please read the Rules of Entry 2017 and submit the Entry Form by April 24th. You have until the day of the poster competition (May 17th) to create and print your poster. To enter the competition you will need to be available from 10am on the 17th May (to set up) and be present until 2pm. During the competition you will stand by your poster from 11 until 13:00 to be judged. Prizes will be given out at 13:45. You must also be willing to loan your poster to us after the competition closes, as selected posters may be displayed in the Library, after which they will be returned to you.

If you need some help in producing your poster the Graduate School are running a Poster Design workshop on April 5th for UoN PGRs. Please direct any questions about the workshop, event or competition to Simone Apel.
