PGRs are invited to apply for funding from the 2022 Postgraduate Researcher Award and have until Friday 29th April to do so. The Postgraduate Researcher Award provides up to £1,000 to support a research student in the pursuance of their research degree programme at the University of Northampton. The Award is available to full-time or part-time postgraduate research students at the University of Northampton. DBA and DProfPrac students must have completed the facilitated modules and be eligible for registration on the Professional Research Module.

The intention of the Award is to support and enhance research activity of various kinds (for example, additional travel costs, purchase of specialist equipment, researcher development). Funds awarded must be spent by 31 July 2022. Read on for conditions and how to apply.

Conditions of Award

Applications will be assessed by a panel chaired by the Head of The Graduate School. It will include at least one other research-active senior academic, the Postgraduate Research Manager, the Researcher Developer and one member external to the university.

Applicants will need to demonstrate how the provision of the Award will enable additional research activity.  A clear statement shall be presented on how the monies are to be used. Successful applicants will submit a progress report, to demonstrate how the monies have been spent and will be expected to present the outcomes of their research at (at least) one of the university’s major annual research events (e.g. PGR Research Conference, Images of Research, PGR Poster Competition) and acknowledge the award where appropriate in all dissemination of the research.

  • Candidates should apply on this form below. Typed forms are to be returned by email to Laura Pereira, Postgraduate Research Manager. Handwritten applications will not be considered. Please return your application by Friday 29th April.
