2012 EABIS Sustainability Conference report

The University of Northampton was represented at the EABIS Colloquium, held at IMD Lausanne and Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL), on 2–5 July 2012. The theme was Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Business. This forum brought together leading academics and Corporate leaders (IBM, Microsoft, Syngenta, Unilever) from across the globe, in dialogue on innovation for sustainability. Delegates from the European Commission and attendees of the Rio+20 Summit were also present.

R-Project Users Group – call for interest.
R is a free, open-source software environment for statistical computing and graphics. There is a possibility of setting up a University-wide R Users Group for researchers and/or providing training in using R, but first we need to gauge interest and experience.
If you are interested in such a group, or training in R, please email Simone Apel.

2. give an outline of what you have used it for (or might use it for).

Conference report: ‘Narratives of difference’ in the global marketplace

On the 25th and 26th of October 2012, the Centre of Contemporary Narrative and Cultural Theory in the School of Arts at the University of Northampton, in partnership with the Spanish University of Vigo, hosted the international conference titled ‘Narratives of Difference’ in the Global Marketplace.
Beginning teaching in H.E: An Induction for academic staff new to teaching in H.E
It is a requirement of the research degree programme that any research degree students who engage in teaching and assessment at the university undertake formal training offered by the university
The Beginning Teaching in HE programme can be taken by any research degrees student with a teaching commitment in the coming year. It can also be taken by students with no allocated teaching hours but who have an interest in teaching in the future.
