If so, you might be interested in coming along to Lucy Atkinson’s new workshop, on Wednesday, 24 June 2015 from 16:00 to 18:00 in C311, Cottesbrooke, Park Campus. Lucy will show you possible routes to finding alternative sources of funding, whether for fees, maintenance, research expenses, conferences or travel.

From ‘Memory Frictions’ to ‘Decolonizing Trauma’: May activities in the Trauma Research Group

May 2015 has seen Dr Larissa Allwork and Dr Sonya Andermahr, representatives of the CCN&CT’s Interdisciplinary Research Group in Trauma, Narrative & Performance participate in a major conference at the University of Zaragoza, Spain as well as hosting an international one-day symposium on ‘Decolonizing Trauma Studies’ at the University of Northampton School of the Arts.

Are you doing your research degree on a part-time basis?…

mature-students-seminar BHam…. then there are two day-long workshops coming up, free of charge to research students in the Midlands. All you have to do is to book your own travel!

The first, at The University of Birmingham on 9th June, is Part-Time Researcher, for students in the early stages of their research and will focus on the ethos and process of part-time research; Working with your Supervisor, Time Management and Making Progress, Forward Planning and Objective Setting.

If you are in  the final 18 months of your PhD or doctorate, the Part Time Researcher Finishing Workshop on 22 June at the Open University in Milton Keynes is for you. This includes sections on Editing, Preparing for the Viva, and Publishing.

Does your research make a difference? Can you articulate the impact of your research on scientific progress, economy and society?

On Tuesday 2nd June at 2pm, Dr Miggie Pickton and Nick Dimmock will examine the ways in which, as a researcher, you can reach and influence both academic and non-academic audiences. From using project plans to design impact into your research, to disseminating your research in ways which promote impact, the 2-hour workshop will allow sharing of experiences and introduce new ways to demonstrate the value of your research.

Intermediate SPSS workshops for research students – book now!

Graduate School WorkshopsDr Roz Collings will shortly be running our last two Intermediate SPSS workshops for research students and early career researchers, one on Regression Analysis and another on Psychometrics. Regression Analysis will run on Wednesday 27th May from 1pm-3pm and Psychometrics is on Wednesday 10th June from 11am-1pm. Both will be held in Grendon 152 on Park Campus.

Researcher Links Workshop on Eco Food Supply Chains: Exploring Industrial Ecosystems to Minimize Food Waste and Maximize Social Benefits

The Business School is now inviting researchers from the UK and Brazil to apply to attend this workshop which will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 24th to 26th August 2015. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the Researcher Links programme.
