New Education resources
Hannah Rose, Academic Librarian for Education, tells me that the British Education Index has just moved to the EBSCO platform. In addition, we also now have access to three other resources as part of our subscription:
- Child Development & Adolescent Studies
- Education Abstracts
- Educational Administration Abstracts
The new resources can be found in NELSON, or directly through the A-Z list of databases.
Researchers needing help with finding resources in Education subjects can contact Hannah directly; for other specialist subjects please contact your School’s Academic Librarian.

Marking the centenary of the First World War, the New Zealand Studies Network (UK & Ireland) convened their second biennial conference on ‘New Zealand and the First World War’ at Birkbeck College, University of London (3-4 July 2014). Co-organised by Professor Janet Wilson (The University of Northampton) and Professor Rod Edmond (The University of Kent), the conference featured an excellent range of papers on historical, literary and cultural responses to New Zealand’s involvement in the Great War. School of the Arts Postgraduate Conference, 18th-19th September 2014
We are delighted to announce that the annual School of the Arts Postgraduate Conference will be held on the 18th-19th September 2014. MA and PhD students from the School of the Arts are strongly encouraged to submit papers on their research projects to Larissa.Allwork@northampton.ac.uk by 31 July 2014.

School of Education’s 5th Annual Research Student Conference – call for papers & posters

Are you a UN postgraduate research student? If so, you are invited to submit an abstract for the School of Education’s 5th Annual Research Student Conference, 27th & 28th June. The theme for the conference is ‘Researching Learning, Learning to Research’ and PhD students are invited to make presentations or posters about work pertaining to an educational theme.
Supervisors are also invited to report on their research in the form of posters.

As a new research student it is important that you are quickly able to take advantage of the many resources and services available to you at the university. This checklist will show you how to log in to the different services and tell you where to get help should you have any problems.
