Conference call for papers: The Great Outdoors? Children, Young People and Families in Natural and Rural Spaces
The University of Northampton’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing are holding a conference The Great Outdoors? Children, Young People and Families in Natural and Rural Spaces, on 9th-10th September 2015 at Sunley Conference Centre.
The conference marks 15 years since the publication of Matthews et al.’s (2000) ‘Growing up in the countryside: children and the rural idyll’. This anniversary represents a timely moment for reflection on the state of research into children, young people and families in, and in relation to, ‘rural’ and ‘natural’ spaces.

Call for papers – Texts and contexts: the cultural legacies of Ada Lovelace
The mathematician, Ada Lovelace (1815-1852), daughter of poet Lord Byron, is celebrated as a pioneer of computer science. As part of the University of Oxford’s celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of Lovelace’s birth, a one-day workshop on Tuesday 8th December will bring together research students and early career researchers to discuss the varied cultural legacies associated with Ada Lovelace.
Researchers from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for papers on the influences of Lovelace’s work, on topics including, but not limited to, literature, history, mathematics, music, visual art, and computer science. Proposals, not exceeding 250 words, for 15-minute papers should be submitted to adalovelaceworkshop@ell.ox.ac.uk by 5pm, Friday 28 August 2015. Those who are accepted to speak at this graduate workshop will also be offered free registration for the Ada Lovelace 200 Symposium taking place on the following two days. The 2015 EMUA PGR Student Conference: Call for papers extended to June 19th!
On Thursday 3rd September, the University of Lincoln Graduate School will be hosting the 2015 East Midlands University Association (EMUA) postgraduate research student conference.

CALL FOR PAPERS for ‘There and Back Again’: An Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Symposium
If you are a postgraduate research student you might be interested in a Symposium exploring the richness of travel in its multivalent forms, from antiquity to beyond in relation to social, political, cultural, and environmental forces. The symposium will be held on 22nd June 2015 at the University of Nottingham.

The closing date for the submission of abstracts is fast approaching for the School of Education’s 6th Annual Research Student Conference. PhD and Masters students are invited to submit an abstract by 31st March 2015. The conference will be held in the Sulgrave Building, School of Education, Park Campus, on Friday 26th June and Saturday 27th June 2015. Violence: Children, family and society conference 2015

First call for papers (first call closes 31st March)
We invite submissions for a 3 day conference exploring violence, to be held at the University of Northampton, 24-26 June 2015.
Violence is part of the daily lived experience of many people round the world. As a tool of domination and control, it impacts negatively on people’s health, mental health, interpersonal relationships, harms communities and produces a range of sociopolitical effects. This three day conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary and multi-professional context to consider the experience and impact of violence on children, families, individuals and society. We will also consider interventions and responses to violence at individual, interpersonal, community, political and social levels.
Call for Papers: The Psychology of Emotion – A new student conference
Four doctoral students from the School of Psychology have been awarded funding from the UN Innovation Fund to run a student conference entitled Exploring the Nature of Emotion and Feeling; Critical Issues and Future Directions in Emotion and Feeling Based Research.
The conference will be held on April 8th 2015. Aiming to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where students can explore the nature of emotion and feeling, it aims to critically consider how this shapes our understanding of emotion today. Key themes in emotion and feeling based literature will be examined, providing students will the opportunity to consider future directions of research in this area.
A call for papers and posters has been announced for doctoral students to participate, with the first call for papers deadline 30th November. Final date for submissions February 15th 2015.
