Lunchtime seminar: Communities for Ageing Populations in Canada and Brazil

The Institute for Heath and Wellbeing are holding a lunchtime seminar on Wednesday 14 January at Sunley Conference Centre. Professor Judith Sixsmith and Maria Mascolli, a visting PhD student from Brazil, are presenting on two community-based research studies on communities for ageing populations in Canada and Brazil.

The Graduate School PGR and ECR Skills Development Programme 2014-15
This Hub Post is a permanent link to the 2014-15 Generic Skills Development Programme. This year the Programme has been designed for Postgraduate Research Students (PGRs) and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and is available via the links below.
This year we have over 40 workshops, one Development Day every month and six events to take part in. Many thanks for all the feedback we had on last year’s programme.
Some additional workshops may be added, along with some inevitable changes to the programme, so do make sure you come back here regularly for the most up-to-date information. Workshops and events will be advertised via UN email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and on NILE RES001. Do email me for further information or if you have any questions.

Graduate School Generic Skills Programme 2013-14
The Graduate School’s generic workshop programme 2013-14, for UN Research Degree Students, can be found via the link below.
Our Development Days consist of a full day of workshops (usually three, plus lunch) for a specific stage of study. The Development Day programme begins again in the 2014-15 academic year.
All workshops are available for booking via the Eventbrite booking system, links shown in the attachments.

“And the winner of the 8th Graduate School Poster Competition is…”
The University of Northampton’s Graduate School hosted its eighth Annual Research Student Poster Competition to give research students the opportunity to showcase their work. The event was held on Wednesday 8 May in the Dialogue Cafe in Rockingham Library and was opened by Professor Ian Livingstone, Head of the Graduate School. The competition was open to all research students from all years of study and the aim was to create a poster that described their research to a mixed audience of non-subject specialists.
The winners were announced by Professor Nick Petford, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Northampton, with a top prize of £100 and two runner up prizes of £75.
Saneeya Qureshi, from the School of Education was named as the winner, with her poster, ‘Like a Cog in a Wheel’, with two runner-up prizes won by Roshni Khatri and Nutmeg Hallett, both from the School of Health.
Nene Valley Nature Improvement Area celebrates first anniversary
Representatives from a major conservation project in Northamptonshire, Peterborough and Huntingdonshire are attending a special event in London today (26th March) to mark the first anniversary of England’s Nature Improvement Area (NIA) programme.
Bumblebee experts create a buzz at the University of Northampton

On the 11th April over 70 of the UK and Ireland’s pollination scientists and conservationists will be meeting at the University of Northampton for the biennial Bumblebee Working Group meeting.
