Engaging with the digital world: An event for arts and humanities research students

C21imageThe University of Oxford and the Arts and Humanities Research Council have collaborated to offer a one-day interactive training session for postgraduate students across the arts and humanities, focusing on public engagement and digital media. “Transforming Postgraduate Research: Engaging with the Digital World” will be held on Monday 17 June at the University of Oxford, and aims to provide introductory training in using digital media to disseminate academic research. Participants will explore the value of digital engagement and learn how a range of digital platforms can be used to enhance academic profile. The event features practical workshop sessions, keynote lectures, student-led Q&A and discussion sessions between participants and a panel of experts. Topics covered include:

  • Social media(s) and academia
  • Blogs and academic websites
  • Creative technologies and impact
  • Showcasing and developing educational resources

ANOVAs in SPSS: Workshop for PGR Students

Dr Roz Collings is running a workshop for UN Research Students on the analysis of variance (ANOVA) in SPSS. The session will run on Thursday, 11 April from 17:00 to 19:00 in Grendon 152, on Park Campus. Places are limited so book now!

“Writing your CV” workshop for UN Research Students

graduate-school-workshops940The Graduate School, together with the UN Careers Service, are offering a workshop session for Research Students to improve and perfect their CVs.

This two hour session, with lunch, will focus on writing and refining CVs (chronological, skills & academic) and covering letters. In the second hour there will be a chance for 1-1 advice on the researcher’s own CV.

Saturday School on April 13th

graduate-school-workshops940The Graduate School will be running a Saturday school for UN PGR students on April 13th 10-5pm in the T-Pod, Rockingham Library, Park Campus.

We will be covering “Preparing for Transfer” in the morning, followed by brand new workshops on “Interviewing for Researchers”, and “Negotiation skills”. The afternoon workshop on Negotiation Skills will be run by external trainer Karin Blak and you will learn a range of skills vital for managing situations in collaborative relationships, such as with your supervisor or other work and study colleagues. FREE Vitae ‘entrepreneurship’ workshop in Bristol

vitae-logo“Charting an entrepreneurial career: how researchers can control their professional destiny” is a free day-long event open to postgraduate researchers and research staff. It is being held on the 9th April at the University of Bristol and is sponsored by the Entrepreneurial Institution.
