RDM workshops for Graduate School and NBS – slides available
Yesterday’s research data management (RDM) workshops with Sarah Jones and Marieke Guy of the DCC sparked a lot of interest from researchers. For those that were unable to attend, the slides are here:

This research training programme is for staff across all NHS Trusts in Northamptonshire, UoN’s School of Health staff and post-graduate students who wish to refresh or gain new skills in the research process, research methods and the use of evidence to inform practice.

If you are distance learner or you missed any Graduate School workshops or Induction sessions, this is a reminder that you can catch up using NILE.
You can access resources on the Graduate School Nile site “RES001: Postgraduate Research Training”.
After logging into NILE and finding RES001, choose “Training Materials” from the left hand menu. You can then choose between:-
- Research Training Workshop Materials: Materials from 2012 and earlier.
- Saturday Schools: Resources from the 8th December 2012 Saturday School.
- Induction materials: Materials relating to Induction – now updated to include October 2012 Induction.

R-Project Users Group – call for interest.
R is a free, open-source software environment for statistical computing and graphics. There is a possibility of setting up a University-wide R Users Group for researchers and/or providing training in using R, but first we need to gauge interest and experience.
If you are interested in such a group, or training in R, please email Simone Apel.
Please mention…
1. whether you have used R or not.
2. give an outline of what you have used it for (or might use it for).
3. whether you are interested in a User Group or being trained in R.

Beginning teaching in H.E: An Induction for academic staff new to teaching in H.E
It is a requirement of the research degree programme that any research degree students who engage in teaching and assessment at the university undertake formal training offered by the university
The Beginning Teaching in HE programme can be taken by any research degrees student with a teaching commitment in the coming year. It can also be taken by students with no allocated teaching hours but who have an interest in teaching in the future.
