Postgraduate Research Student Poster Competition 2014: Call for entries

PostergenericThe Graduate School are holding their 9th Annual Poster Competition on 7th May 2014 and are looking for keen research students to take part. So if you are a UN postgraduate student, registered on one of our research degree programmes, why not enter? It’s an excellent opportunity for you to illustrate and discuss your research. FAQ: I’ve just started as a research student at the University of Northampton.  How do I get access to university IT systems and library resources?

As a new research student it is important that you are quickly able to take advantage of the many resources and services available to you at the university.  This checklist will show you how to log in to the different services and tell you where to get help should you have any problems.

(Note: The checklist contains a lot of information and is therefore quite long, but if a quick overview is all you need then check out the summary table toward the end.)

Graduate School workshops in February

Graduate School WorkshopsWe have a variety of Graduate School workshops coming up in February for research degree students.

We have 4 places left for Hugh Kearn’s Research Student workshop “Seven secrets” which will be held at Sunley Conference Centre next Tuesday 11th. Hugh Kearns is recognised internationally as a public speaker, educator and researcher and regularly lectures at universities across the world, including Oxford, Harvard and Stanford. Research students, please don’t miss this great opportunity.

How can your research have impact? Workshop!

graduate_school_mono “How can your research have impact?” will be held on Wednesday, 8 January 2014 from 11:00 to 13:00 in C109, Cottesbrooke, Park Campus. A free lunch is included!

Katie Jones will examine research ‘impact’ in the context of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and will use impact case studies in order to formulate discussion around the topic.

The workshop is for researchers at the University of Northampton who have just completed, or are currently studying for, a doctorate, or for research staff in the early stages of their career.
