Between Theory and Practice: the pedagogical dimension of doctoral supervision

Wednesday 13 March ~ 12-2 pm ~ Cottesbrooke 201, Park Campus

This workshop aims to bridge the gap between the implicit theory of supervision and its practice. It will do so by providing a theoretical canvas onto which it would be possible to map personal practice and experiences as supervisors and teachers. In the first part of the session, an overview of major theories of learning would be provided. In the second part of the session, a more practical workshop will enable participants to make explicit the link between theories and their own practice. Read the rest of this entry

Are you a researcher in the field of social sciences or the arts?

conferenceroomTwo conferences are calling for papers from doctoral researchers and research students.

In the Arts “Re-Contested Sites/Sights” Research Conference”, organised by the University of the Arts in London, are calling for papers on the theme of spaces of re-contestation. The conference will be held on May 8th and submission deadline for papers is March 8th.

In the Social Sciences, the Portuguese Association of Economic and Social History conference entitled State, Society and Markets in a Global World”  are calling for papers on the theme of the State’s role in the economic and social system. The conference in Portugal is on 15th and 16th November and paper proposals should be submitted by 31st May.
