Call for Research Participants – Six-Week Seated Exercise Programme
Call for Research Participants – Six-Week Seated Exercise Programme
Dr Tony Kay, Associate Professor in Biomechanics, is looking for volunteers over the age of 55, relatively inactive but still healthy, for a study that will examine the effects of a six-week seated exercise programme which aims to reverse the functional decline associated with aging (e.g. lower limb strength, flexibility, stiffness).
The first test will take about 20 mins (the tests are all seated so no running around needed) and will be conducted in the lab in the sports hall complex at Park Campus. You would then return twice a week for 6 weeks to perform a some seated exercises (each session only takes 10 mins), before being retested at the end.
If you would like further information on the specifics of the study and are willing to take part then please contact Tony Kay directly.
Doing Interpretive Qualitative Research: A workshop on 3-4th November
Dr Jane Callaghan will be running a qualitative methodology workshop for the Graduate School next Monday and Tuesday 3-4 November.

The workshop is open to any student currently registered on a research degree programme or any Early Career Researchers at the University of Northampton. If you are interested in attending please book here.

PGR student induction: Making the most of the library
Thank you to all the new research students who worked so hard in today’s session in the library.
Given how many tools we covered in the morning, I thought it might be helpful to provide a list of these, with links, so you can revisit them later at your leisure. You’ll see that there are a few extra tools that were mentioned today but not explored.
We started by looking at university and external resources:
